Meal Planning fail/win

Last week I decided to plan the meals we would have because I was determined not to fall into the trap of ordering a takeaway. It was guaranteed to be a very hectic week as we ran around trying to get my house sorted in order to move back in this weekend. The meals I planned and actual meals are as follows

  • Monday – Roast gammon with macaroni cheese – this happened
  • Tuesday –  Honey mustard pork fillet with fresh bread and salad – This happened but with new potatoes and asparagus as it was cold
  • Wednesday –  Cod in prosciutto with roasted tomatoes, garlic new potatoes and asparagus (and samphire if I can get some) – this was altered to home-made fish and chips at the pleading of the younger demon
  • Thursday – Ham and asparagus tart with salad – this ended up being dinner at Asda cafe as we shopped for last-minute things needed for the house and needed to get the younger demon to Beavers
  • Friday – Sticky chili chicken and spring rolls – this happened
  • Saturday – Beef Wellington with dauphinoise potatoes and spinach/asparagus – my father invited himself for dinner so this became roast ham with salad and new potatoes
  • Sunday – Minted lamb roast dinner – this happened

All in all not too bad, the menu what altered to meet the circumstances but even though Dominos has a host of tempting offers the takeaways remained bereft of demonic business this week.

We also managed to move back home yesterday and the house is completely and utterly (yes I do mean it, in the correct sense of the word) wonderful. I am so happy with the way it looks and so are the demons. There are a few final things to finish and then I will bore you about it in detail.

In the meantime, here are this weeks meals. These are in no particular order.

  • Macaroni cheese with ham
  • Toad in the hole
  • Cod in parma ham or hm fish and chips
  • Beef Wellington
  • Chicken curry of some sort
  • Smoked mackerel salad (or risotto if the weather does not improve)
  • Slow roast belly pork
